Montgomery County, Maryland is just north of Washington, D.C. and just southwest of Baltimore.  It is one of the most affluent counties in the country and has the highest percentage (29.5%) of residents over 25 with a post graduate degree.  The county has about 950,000 residents who live in cities like Silver Spring, Bethesda, and Georgetown.  In 2008, Montgomery was recognized as the 8th wealthiest county in the country.  

MONTGOMERY COUNTY SCHOOLS
 
The Montgomery County Public School System,  breaks down into 131 elementary, 38 middle schools, 25 high schools, 1 career and technology center and 5 special schools.  The graduation rate is 86% with 126 National Merit Finalists.  Many of the schools have their own Special Schools and Alternative Programs.
 
SHOPPING IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY
 
There are numerous places to shop in Montgomery County including Kentlands Square.  The shopping center is home to Lowes, GNC and many more.

There is also White Flint Mall, The mall is located on Rockville Pike just outside Bethesda.

 
MONTGOMGERY COUNTY TRANSPORTATION
 
Montgomery County offers its own public transportation bus service known as RideOn.  A map of routes is located on the RideOn Web site.  Fares vary, but are generally $1.25 to $1.35. 
 
Amtrak also passes through Montgomery County as the Capitol Limited travels from D.C. to Chicago.  The stop in Maryland is located at Rockville. 

MARC trains, or the Maryland Transit Authority, is a commuter rail service offering transportation to Harford County, Maryland; Baltimore City; Washington D.C.; Brunswick, Maryland; Frederick, Maryland and Martinsburg, West Virginia.  MARC Train operates on weekdays only with limited service on select holidays.  Train service is offered during morning and evening rush hours only on the Brunswick and Camden Line, with all day and late evening service on the Penn Line.   
 
The red line of the Washington Metro also serves Montgomery County.
