ARLINGTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Homeland Security Capital Corporation (OTCBB: HOMS, “Homeland” or the “Company”), an international provider of specialized technology-based radiological, nuclear, environmental, disaster relief, electronic security solutions and domestic real estate disposition services to government and commercial customers, announced today that on July 15, 2011, it entered into a definitive agreement to sell all of the capital stock of its wholly-owned subsidiary, Safety and Ecology Holdings Corporation, to Perma-Fix Environmental Services, Inc. Arlington County is located in Virginia is located directly across the Potomac River to the southwest of Washington, D.C. At one point, Arlington County was part of the nation’s capitol, but was retroceded to Virginia in 1846. At that point, it went by the name of Alexandria County until 1920 when the General Assembly changed its name. Arlington County consists of only 26 square miles and is the smallest county in the United States.
In 2005, Arlington was ranked as one of the most walkable places in the U.S. and is also one of the most educated with 35% of residents in the city of Arlington holding graduate degrees.
Arlington is home to the Arlington National Cemetery, Reagan National Airport, the Pentagon Memorial, and many other monuments. As of 2008, the population was estimated to be close to 210,000.

There are 22 elementary schools, 5 middle schools, 3 high schools, 1 secondary school, and 6 other programs. The students within the system come from 128 different countries and speak more than 95 languages. Arlington high schools are consistently ranked in the top .5% of high schools throughout the country. The schools also have some of the smallest class sizes in the region with over 4,000 employees including 2,000 instructional employees. SAT scores in Arlington are traditionally very high. Data for the 2007 SAT show the combined scores of Arlington Public Schools class of 2007 topped the state and the nation. Arlington students earned an average combined score of 1623, surpassing the state average combined score by 103 points and the national average combined score by 112 points. State and national averages declined slightly in reading, writing, and math in 2007, while Arlington averages increased in writing and math. Arlington’s reading average of 542 is 31 points above the state reading average and 40 points above the national average. The writing average of 533 exceeded the state writing average by 35 points and the national average by 39 points. The math average of 533 exceeded the state writing average by 35 points and the national average by 39 points. The 2007 average for Arlington students on the reading portion of the tests decreased by two (2) points from the year before (from 544 to 542) and reflects an increase of just one (1) point from 2005 and one (1) in 2003. The math average for Arlington increased by three (3) points (from 545 to 548) over the last year and by 10 points over the last five years. The writing score average was 533, up from 531 a year ago, which was the first time the SAT reported results for writing.
Compared to scores from 1992, which is the date of recentered scores for the SAT, reading is up 30 points (512 in 1992) and math is up 33 points (515 in 1992).

SHOPPING IN ARLINGTON VA
Shopping in Arlington County consists of several different malls. One is the Fashion Centre of the Pentagon, Stores include Macy’s, Nordstom, Brookstone, Williams-Sonoma, and many more.Getting to the mall is easy with a Metro stop (yellow and blue lines) directly at the mall.
The Market Common Clarendon is an outside shopping center located in Arlington County. The shopping area features national retailers along with local boutiques. There are also places to live where you shop and eat as well. Store include Barnes and Noble, Whole Foods, The Apple Store, Crate and Barrel, and others. The Clarendon is located by taking the Metro line to the Clarendon stop and walking two blocks east to the entrance.
Other malls include the Ballston Common Mall. Stores include FYE, Gamestop, FootLocker, GNC, Macy’s and others. The mall takes up 1.3 million square feet and is four stories tall. It is located at the intersection of Glebe Road and Wilson Boulevard in Arlington, VA. There are more than 3,000 parking spots, but the orange Metro Line is connected to the mall by a skywalk on level 2.
With over 200 stores, the Crystal City Shops has something for everyone. Many of the stores are located along tree lined streets and walkways making the shopping experience more than just heading to the mall. You can get to the shops by taking the Metro’s blue and yellow lines or consult the Shops webiste for Maps and directions.
Pentagon Row is also a collection of national retailers. Stores include Lucy, Baja Fresh, Bally’s, Asia Bistro and many more. Pentagon Row is located off I-395 at the corner of ArmyNavy Drive and South Joyce Street.
The Village at Shirlington is another shopping mall in the Arlington region. There are numerous restaurants located here including Cake Love, PING, and Johnny Rockets. The Village at Shrilington is located off I-395 at Glebe Road and Shirlington exit.
TRANSPORTATION IN ARLINGTON VA
Arlington is served by the blue, orange and yellow lines of the Washington Metro.
It is also served by the Virginia Railway Express which is a commuter rail service connecting northern Virginia suburbs to Union Station in Washington, D.C. Fares differ on different routes, but consult the VRE web site for more information.
